The Royston and Saffron Walden National Trust Association is a voluntary association
of National Trust Members and was founded in 1985 to promote and prosper the work of the National Trust.
We currently have just under 200 members from the two main towns as well as from the adjoining villages in Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
Our objectives are to promote the National Trust locally, raise funds in its support and arrange a programme of events and activities to enrich members' understanding of its work and make membership of the Trust more enjoyable.
Among the National Trust properties that we support financially are Wimpole Hall and Anglesey Abbey, both just a few miles away, and from time to time, other properties in East Anglia. Many of our members provide volunteer support for the National Trust by working as stewards at Wimpole Hall or Anglesey Abbey. Help on the farm, or in the garden, or serving in the shop or the bookshop would also be welcomed.
Royston and Saffron Walden Association is independent of the National Trust and is governed by a constitution common to all the charity's centres and associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee of officers and members who are elected at our annual general meeting each year.
In winter Royston and Saffron Walden NT Association normally meet on the last Friday evening of every month (except December) alternately at Royston Town Hall and at Saffron Walden County High School Sports Centre both of which have adequate car parking. Meetings commence with coffee and biscuits from 7:30 onwards followed by a speaker shortly before 8.00pm and include talks on a variety of subjects and allow members to socialise with like minded people.
In summer we arrange DayTrips and Short Break Holidays to places of interest. From time to time we arrange walks in the area, usually at a NT property
Social events are held each year such as a Christmas evening, an Annual Dinner or Lunch and a garden party.
